Blood Lake - Texas

The OC Fisher Reservoir in San Angelo State Park in West Texas was once home to a well-stocked population of bass and was a prized spot for anglers, hikers, and bird watchers.
In 2011, the state of Texas experienced the worst drought in over 125 years. Accordingly, the reservoir was left almost entirely dry; stagnant water full of dead fish and a deep, opaques red!

Texas Parks and Wildlife Inland Fisheries officials said that the bloody look is the result of Chromatiaceae bacteria that thrive in low-oxygen water, which is exactly what was created by all those dead fish gasping their last gasps as the water evaporated and dried up. It is a simple cause and effect!

Adding that this situation should end in one of two ways; either the drought ends, the reservoir refills, and the flora of the water rights itself as oxygen is resorted, or it simply dries up. Accordingly, drying up kills the responsible bacteria leaving behind nothing but parched dirt!
