Harvest Festival in Siwa Oasis

Siwa festival takes place at the Egyptian oasis of Siwa, located approximately 900 km to the southwest of Cairo, during the full moon in October.

Before going to Siwa once back in April  2014 I was recommended to read Bahaa Taher's novel "Sunset Oasis" which I did and I would recommend it to you too before heading to Siwa because it has facts or shades about  everything there and specifically about the hostility that used to be between the western and the eastern tribes.

I knew about the festival from our guide there who confirmed the fact of the hostility that used to be between the east and the west there someday, but nowadays there is a festival held in Siwa celebrating the peace between both parties and the date harvest.

Around ten thousand people of different generations of the whole town gather at Jebel El Dakroor  for the celebration for three days in a row. I can say that Siwa is paradise on Earth.
