It’s a rare thing to find a abandoned historic monument that is also open to the general public, but that’s exactly the case for the Bokor Hill Station. The abandoned resort town has just as much creepy history as it does dilapidated ruins.
The Bokor Hill Station was built entirely by indentured servants and was completed in 1925, with over 1000 Cambodian deaths as a result of its construction.
The resort acted as a retreat and offered guests casinos, shops, apartments, and post offices, until 1940 when it was suddenly abandoned. In the 60′s and 70′s the resort saw somewhat of a short-lived resurgence, but was again left abandoned in the 1970′s.
Since then the buildings have been completely vacant, and the area has become a favorite spot for photographers and urban explore for those interested, the area is open all year round so you don’t have to worry about any of those pesky trespassing signs.
