The Spookiest Sculptures in America 'Lilith'

America's got no shortage of creepy statues, but the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston might just have one of the most unsettling of them all. The sculpture simply named "Lilith" was created by American artist Kiki Smith in 1994, and its bright blue eyes have been giving everyone the willies ever since.

The sculpture was created in the likeness of Adam's first wife Lilith, who according to lore was headstrong and demanded to be equal to Adam. When she was denied, Lilith abandoned Adam, refusing to return. Legend says she furiously roamed the Earth, killing and tormenting men like a wild woman.

Kiki Smith's strange and almost alarming sculpture of Lilith debuted in 1994, created from silicon bronze and glass, and depicts a woman looking back at her observers with a voracious fierceness, as if she's tracking you as you pass by.

She crouches upside down on the wall, just above the heads of guests brave enough to lean in close enough to take a peek at her bright, predatory eyes. The sculpture is a favorite for visiting guests, and has captured the imagination of everyone who lays eyes on it.

'Lilith' is currently on display at the Museum of Fine Arts and is located in John F. Cogan, Jr. and Mary L. Cornille Gallery.
